Traditional Boxing Contest: Aiming to emerge new generation athletes

Jointly organized by the Sports and Physical Education Department and Myanmar Traditional Lethwei Federation, Yangon Region Men and Women Boxing Contest for 2022 and selecting athletes for Yangon Region took place at the Lethwei hall in Thuwunna stadium.

The event aimed to emerge new generation athletes who are interested in the traditional boxing and to entertain for the fans while watching the contest. 

Thet Tun Soe, Secretary, Yangon Region Traditional Lethwei Sub-Committee said “We select athletes representing Yangon Region from this contest to participate in the Region and State boxing competition that will be held on 8th March. We present prizes to winners for 17 events. This is not contest just for selecting athletes. So, we have not arranged trophies and medals. We invited participants from Yangon Region and clubs for this contest.”

More than 60 athletes from 10 townships of Yangon Region participated in the competition. Officials of Yangon Region Sports and Physical Education Committee, Sports and Physical Education Department, Region and State Lethwei sub-committee and Myanmar traditional Lethwei Federation present prizes to the best winner award and winners in the respective kilo weight events.
