Toyota stops operation at 12 factories due to system failure

Toyota Motor has halted operations at 12 plants in Japan due to a system failure. The company says it does not believe the issue is related to a cyberattack, but it is still investigating the cause. Two more plants were included in the suspension starting Tuesday afternoon. That means all of Toyota's domestic factories will be affected.

Company officials say there is no timeline for when operations will resume.  Toyota was forced to stop all domestic operations in March of last year after one of its suppliers was targeted by a cyberattack. But company officials say as of now, they do not believe a similar attack is responsible for the current issue.
