Tourism Promotion: Union Minister receives Thai delegation

To attract more Thai tourists to Myanmar and to broadcast the Myanmar tourism sector programmes in Thai television channles, Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Htay Aung received representatives from Thailand’s Best International Travels & Agency and MONO 29, Channel5, THAIRATH and Workpoint television channels.

In the meeting at Mingala Thiri Hotel in Nay Pyi Taw on Sunday afternoon, the Union Minister stressed that culture, custom, religion and lifestyle of Thailand and Myanmar are relatively similar, and as they are Buddhist countries, they have the same basic religion and beliefs.

For Thai tourists, Myanmar has famous tourist areas such as Yangon, Mandalay, Inlay, Bagan and Ngpali, Chaungtha and Ngwesaung beaches in addition to destinations full of natural beauty. He also expressed his belief that these Thai television channels will broadcast the Myanmar tourism sector.

This meeting continued with screening the Myanmar tourism promotion video file and explaining the tourism sector. The Thai television channles enquired about the ongoing works to promote the Myanmar’s tourism sector, preparations to attract more Thai tourists to Myanmar and plans.

After the meeting, the Union Minister presented souvenirs and the Thai delegation expressed their thanks. On the same day, the Union Minister presented HSP national level certificates and regional level certificates to hotels following the Health and Safety Protocol [HSP] before the COVID-19 vaccination programme for hotel staff.

The representatives from Thailand’s Best International Travels & Agency and MONO 29, Channel5, THAIRATH and Workpoint television channels visited the Gem Museum. It’s reported that starting from April 17, Myanmar has allowed international airlines to re-operate, and e-Visa (Tourist) was allowed from May 20. Currently, 14 international airlines have been carrying tourists to Myanmar including Thai.
