The Airlines and Tourism Industry Forum took place at the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Yangon on Sunday.

The forum aims to promote the development of the aviation and tourism sectors and create more tourism-related economic opportunities. Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture, U Maung Myint, attended the event and delivered the opening remarks.

In his speech, the Union Minister emphasized that the balanced development of the aviation and tourism sectors would create new business opportunities for tourism-related industries. He added that strengthening air connectivity would improve the competitiveness of destinations and support the development of hotels, restaurants and tourism-related services.

Since the aviation and tourism sectors are mutually beneficial, cooperation is needed to strengthen air networks. According to the reports, nearly 90,000 tourists entered Myanmar during the first three months of 2026, with total tourist arrivals for the year expected to exceed last year’s figures.

He added that the government is upgrading eight airports across Myanmar and plans to cooperate with relevant ministries to expand visa-free entry arrangements in order to attract more foreign visitors. The role of international and domestic airlines in promoting Myanmar tourism and future cooperation between airlines and tourism industry were also discussed during the forum.
