Tourism Industry: Launching Of White Paper On Safety And Security

The Launching of the White Paper on Safety and Security in Tourism jointly organized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), the African Union Development Agency, and the West African Economic and Monetary Union was held.

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Htay Aung joined the launching virtually. In his address, Secretary-General of the UNWTO said that the White Paper is the guidelines for resumption of international tourism, reopening of international borders and the resumption of safe tourism. He called on the member countries to work together in the resumption of tourism.

The UNWTO has plans to hold both online and offline training courses and workshops on the implementation of the paper in 2022, he added. Also, Vice-Chairman of the International Affairs at Amarante International explained the white paper and discussed practical information.

The UNWTO and international experts conducted field surveys in countries such as Africa, Morocco, Mauritius, Mexico, the Philippines, Portugal, Senegal, Sri Lanka and Tunisia for the paper, and guidelines were set for addressing tourism safety issues for member countries of the UNWTO and to assist in the formation of disaster prevention plans in the government and private sectors.
