Tourism Cooperation: MoHT Union Minister meets President of TBAM

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung held meeting with a delegation led President Mr. NuttaphongVisitkitchakarn of Thai Business Association of Myanmar- TBAM at the Ministry on Monday for the prospects of bilateral economic cooperation between Thailand and Myanmar.

On the occasion, the Union Minister said that the arrival of visitors to Myanmar has developed since 2012 and when the COVID-19 pandemic has suspended again, the international flights have been allowed to resume their operations from 17th April 2022 and e-Visa (Tourist) were allowed on 20th May and the arrival of international tourists are increasing.

International airlines are resuming to Myanmar and the flights from Thailand are also operating. Myanmar and Thailand have friendly relations and the two countries are cooperating with economic, trade and investment sectors. The Union Minister said that the Thailand investment is in the 2nd place in the hotels and tourism sector and they will make further investment.

Myanmar is cooperating with regional countries under the framework of ASEAN, GMS, ACMECS and CLMV for the development of tourism. Similarly, the Ministry and the Thai Ministry of Tourism and Sports have been signed since 2017 and the tourism cooperation between the two countries is being implemented.

He expressed his belief that the meeting will bring good results for cooperation in tourism industry of the two countries and the socio-economic development of the locals in both countries. Later, the Thai Business Association of Myanmar discussed cooperation of trade and investments between the two countries, more arrivals of Thai visitors to Myanmar, assisting Thai businessmen who want to invest in Myanmar and bilateral cooperation.
