








Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi met with the timber-based entrepreneurs, rattan and bamboo business owners and officials from the Forest Department and Myanma Timber Enterprise in Yangon Region on Friday.
The Union Minister stressed that the raw materials needed for the timber-based industries have been provided by the natural forests as well as the state-owned and private-owned forest plantations. He said the natural forest provide 318 million bamboo and 77 million ratton poles annually while granting for private bamboo plantations.
He called for collaboration between the departments and entrepreneurs for boosting export market and creating job opportunities, contributing to the development of state’s economy. In the afternoon, the Union Minister visited No.3 Furniture Factory in Thanlyin Township and instructed the officials to strive for achieving market penetration through the manufacturing of value added products.
He then viewed the production process of plywoods. The Union Minister also visited Nos.1 and 2 Furniture Factories and inspected the production process of value added plywoods, floor tiles, and furnitures for household and office use.
