



Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing visited the National Library in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday to oversee the damages caused by the severe earthquake.
The Prime Minister inspected the library building and displays in the library including the collection of Alinka Kyaw Swar Takkatho Myat Thu, Electronic Library and Reading Room, Win Zin Min Raja Hall, book shelves, Palm Leaf and Writing Tablet Room, as well as the damages in the building.
During the tour, the Prime Minister instructed for systematic storing and recording of the book collections while renovating the damaged facilities. Later in the day, the Prime Minister and party visited the Uppatasanti Pagoda and inspected the damages of the pagoda platform and religious buildings.
During the earthquake, cracks formed on the pagoda’s platform while some areas sank along with the damages sustained at the religious buildings. The Prime Minister instructed for speedy renovation works, pledging to provide assistance by the state.
He then paid homage to the pagoda, offering flower and water. They then visited the Royal White Elephant Hall and fed the white elephants. Built in 2006, the Uppatasanti Pagoda has laid foundation systematically on the one-meter wide 440 bored piles.
The pagoda caused slight damages during the severe earthquake, and plans are underway for renovation works. Public is also informed to contribute in the renovation process of the pagoda.
