Tour in Myeik : Meeting with townselders and development works

Acting President and Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with departmental personnel and townselders in Myeik of Tanintharyi Region on Friday.

The district administrator provided update reports on agriculture and livestock works, food security measures, implementation of fishery industry and MSME businesses, health and education sectors, electricity distribution, water supply, establishment of fish tender market and industrial zone and awareness campaigns for successful holding of the election.

The attendees reported their needs on work implementations, in which the Union Ministers and Deputy Ministers explained the processes for convenience of doing businesses. In his discussion, the Senior General stressed the need to promote economy of the region and the state as a whole for achieving better social status, adding that everyone wish to engage in businesses with peace of mind which requires political stability to ensure economic progress.

For holding the election, the Senior General emphasized that preparations are underway to organize the successful election with dignity. He also discussed for socio-economic development of rural community, promoting education through reform processes, human resource development, boosting production, creating employment opportunities, extended implementation of livestock breeding tasks and industrial development.

He urged all to make cooperative efforts for development of the region. After the meeting, the Senior General viewed the display of booths, showcasing the MSME products from Myeik District. The Senior General and party later visited the Myoma Sports Ground and instructed for upgrading of the facility.

They also went to Myeik Airport and heard reports on the plans for upgrading the airport runway. The Senior General instructed for systematic work implementations for upgrade works. In the evening of September 18, the Senior General and wife and party visited Lay Kyun Simee Pagoda and offered flower, water and lights to the Buddha Image.

They also paid the pagoda in a clockwise position, while giving instructions for long term sustainability of ancient structures which has 240 years life span. The Senior General and wife also made cash donation for all-round renovation of the pagoda. They then took a tour in downtown Myeik and along the Strand Road by a motorcade.
