









Acting President Chairman of the State Security and Peace Commission Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with the departmental personnel and townselders in Dawei on Thursday. Chief Minister U Myat Ko provided update reports on agriculture and livestock sector, electrification, tourism industry, education and health sectors, and environmental conservation efforts.
Attendees also reported on the needs for export of rubber raw materials, development of fishery industry, extended operation of aviation routes, MSME development, smooth transportation access and regional development. The Union Ministers, Deputy Ministers and the Chief Minister explained work procedures and coordinated the needs.
In his speech, the Senior General highlighted the strong history of Dawei with thousand years of cultural flourishing. For the development of regional economy and better transportation, the Senior General outlined the upgrade plans of Dawei Airport, along with the extended flight routes as well as the upgrade of Dawei Port.
He urged all to strive for boosting production of local products for regional consumption and export and surplus. He also reiterated to nurture the qualified human resources for future development of the nation, ensuring the progress of social status of the region.
After the meeting, the Senior General viewed the display of MSME products. The Senior General and party later proceeded to the Dawei Home of the Aged and provided nutritious foods and clothes to the elder persons. They also toured around the facility and made cash donation.
They then took a tour in downtown Dawei and along the Seikkantha Road by a motorcade. At Lawka Marazein Buddha Image and Shwe Taung Sar Pagoda, they made cash donations and discussed for offering gold foils to the pagoda. They then visited Shwe Wei Thiri Sports Ground and inspected the plans for upgrading. At Dawei Airport, the Senior General heard reports on the upgrade plans and instructed for systematic work implementation for future sustainability.
