Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida stated he was "determined to open a new path for Japan," as he took part in the closing ceremony of the Tokyo Stock Exchange on Friday. Kishida, admitted there were "still many challenges left in policy making" in order to help the country thrive economically in the new year.

“In order to make the new year a good one for both the economy and the Japanese people, I’ll put all my effort into policy challenges,” he added. The exchange marked the close of the end-of-year trading session on Friday and will open again on January 4.
