
The opening ceremony for the 74th Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination (Writing test) was held at Wizaya Mingala Dhamma Thabin Hall of the Kaba Aye Hill in Yangon on January 5.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs U Aye Tun on behalf of the Union Minister, Chairman of Yangon Region Administration Council U Hla Soe, Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Nyut Win Swe and responsible officials. First, the congregation led by deputy minister U Aye Tun received the Five Precepts from Chairman of Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Board Hlinethaya (လႈိင္သာယာ) Township Sasana Gonyee Monastery Sayadaw Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Bhaddanta Pannissara Bhivamsa, and listened to the Parittas recited by Members of the Sangha. Afterwards, Chairman Sayadaw of State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee Abhidhaja Maha Rattha Guru Abhidhaja Aggamaha Saddhammajotika Bamaw Sayadaw Dr. Baddanta Kumarabhivamsa delivered an Saraniya Ovadakatha, followed by the deputy Minister supplicating religious matters and offering of offertories and rice to the Sayadawgyis. Then, the congregation listened to the sermon delivered by Yangon Region Thanlyin Minkyaung Pahtamapyan monastery Sayadaw Agga Maha Pandita Aggamaha Saddhammajotikadhaza Bhaddanta Candima Bhivamsa, shared the merits they gained and the ceremony was concluded.
Next, the deputy minister U Aye Tun on behalf of the ‘Soon’ (Day meal) donor Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Commander in Chief of Defense Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, wife Daw Kyu Kyu Hla and family offered ‘Soon’ to the Sayadawgyis of Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Board, examination setter and supervising Sayadawgyis and the candidate of Sangha to sit for the 74th Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination (Writing test), attended merit sharing ceremony and offered the offertories and cash donation to the Sayadawgyis.
In the afternoon, deputy minister U Aye Tun, director-general of the department of religious affairs and officials paid homage to 11 members Sayadawgyis of Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Board, listened to the Ovada from the Sayadawgyis and offered the cash donations.
Then, the deputy minister and officials paid respect to the candidates of Sangha to sit for the 74th Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination (Writing test). The 74th Tipitakadhara Tipitakakovida Selection Examination (Writing test) will be held for 5 days from 5th to 9th January, 2022 with the participation of a total of 192 candidates.
