At the 27th Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition, Vice President Daw Nan Ni Ni Aye, Patron of the Central Committee for Holding the Competition joined the audience in watching the “Widhura Jataka” performance by the Mandalay Region’s Mahn Shwe Widhura troupe.

The performers presented traditional Myanmar theatre through classical verses, poems, songs, dances and emotional acting, while preserving traditional theatrical techniques and creative elements. The Widhura Jataka is the ninth of the Ten Great Birth Stories of the Buddha.

The performance aims to highlight the benefits of wisdom and moral integrity, promote the practice of the four noble virtues, warn against the harmful consequences of gambling, and encourage the cultivation of the seven noble treasures. The Bago Region’s Taw Win Oattha troupe performed on October 21, followed by the Mandalay Region troupe on October 22. Troupes representing Mon State, Sagaing Region and Yangon Region are scheduled to perform from October 23 to 25.
