The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi held a consular telephone conversation with her son, Kim Aris @ Ko Htein Lin, through the Myanmar Embassy in London on October 22, from 2:30 pm to 2:50 pm.

According to the statement, the call was permitted on humanitarian grounds, in accordance with International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) procedures and under the special authority of the President. The statement also noted that her remaining prison sentence was converted to be served at a designated residence on April 30, 2026.

She was subsequently allowed to meet the ICRC’s resident representative in Myanmar on August 3. On October 19, officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs delivered two books and sealed correspondence sent by King Charles III of the United Kingdom.
