Tha Htay Hydropower project: Project Implementation in Rakhine State

Union Minister for Electricity and Energy U Aung Than Oo together with officials inspected implementation of Tha Htay Hydropower project that is being undertaken by No.4 Construction of the Department of Hydropower Implementation on Tha Htay creek about 12-mile north-east of Thandwe in Rakhine State on Sunday.

At the briefing hall of the project, the Union Minister said that at present, there is a shortage of power generation to meet the people demand due to various reasons and called for the people to understand and participate in their activities.

He also stressed the needs on completion of the projects within the target time that can support job opportunities for the locals and regional tourism industry, systematic installation of machines in the project and minimizing wastage.

The Union Minister then looked into completed construction of the main dam in the project area, construction of water intake building, installation of power plant and maintenance of machines and electrical appliances.

He later inspected the site for the relocation of Payit and Yay Kauk villages and cordially met with the people and inspected electricity supply for the constructed villages, transportation, water availability, religious building and schools.

The project is being implemented for more distribution of electricity to the areas in Rakhine state and electricity supply by linking to the National Grid by producing 386 million KW hours of electricity annually.
