Technology Transfer Seminar : 83rd Farmer Technology Transfer Seminar held

The 83rd Farmer Technology Transfer Seminar was held at the AERDTC hall of the Agricultural Extension and Rural Development Training School, located near Yezin in Zeyarthiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw on September 20th.

Relevant experts discussed the topic "Development and Advancement of the Seed Sector in Relation to the Climate Change." Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Dr. Tin Htut, stated during the discussion that the ministry is accelerating research and development activities to strengthen a comprehensive seed production system.

Efforts are being made to ensure that high-quality seeds reach farmers. They are also working to enable the use of regionally appropriate seed varieties and to develop indigenous seed systems tailored to local needs. The ministry aims to systematically share seed production technologies so that every farmer can produce seeds independently and actively participate in the development of seed production systems.

At the discussion, Daw Yu Mon, Assistant Director of the Seed Division, Department of Agriculture, presented on Myanmar's agricultural agro-ecological zones, flooding, soil erosion, heat stress events, climate change, methods to address these issues, ways to implement seed security according to regions, production of climate-resilient crops, selection and cultivation of climate-resilient varieties by region, seed multiplication, and seed viability.

She also provided detailed answers to questions from attendees. The 84th session of the discussion was attended by experts and researchers from the Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Department, farmers from Nay Pyi Taw Council area, agricultural scientists from various Regions and States, and 218 farmers participated from 100 zoon points, it’s reported.
