Taxi's by April must provide at least two electronic payment methods

Hong Kong’s Secretary for Transport and Logistics Mable Chan reminded the taxi industry that starting in April, they must provide at least two electronic payment methods. Chan recently held a Lunar New Year tea gathering with the taxi industry to promote new electronic payment arrangements. 

Starting April 1st, drivers must provide a QR code payment method, or an Octopus card or credit card payment method.  Drivers who fail to provide this without a reasonable explanation will be in violation of the law and could be fined HK$5,000 and imprisoned for six months.
