Students In Quarantine: Heath Condition Is Well

The 59 students who brought back from the coronavirus-stricken Wuhan city of China are in good health on the 8th day of their 14-day quarantine at the Kandaw Nadi Hospital in Mandalay.

A 3-member medical cover team who took part in the mission to bring the students back is also being monitored and they are in good health.

Mandalay Region Government is monitoring the students for the 14-day incubation period and have well-prepared everything for the students’ catering, living, clothing and communicating to their families with the generous contributions of people from Mandalay, an official of Mandalay Region Women’s Committee said. 

Patron, Mandalay Region Women’s Committee, Dr. Yu Yu May said “Our Mandalay region has been assigned to take surveillance the students for the 14-day incubation period. So, with the leadership of Mandalay Region Government, a team led by Mandalay Mayor U Ye Lwin have arranged well everything for the students to be quarantined at the Kandawnadi Hospital in Mandalay. With the generous contribution of Mandalay residents, the food, clothing, accommodation for the students and communication to their families have been prepared very well to be quarantined with peace of mind. The students are also followed systematically the medical guidelines in the quarantine.”

According to the phone interview with one of the students who is in quarantine, he said they, all, are in good health and expecting to the day returning to their respective homes. 

Professor, Botany Department (Kalay University), Ban Byet Lwe  said “Due to the coronavirus outbreak in Wuhan, we arrive back in Myanmar. We are now taking quarantine at the Kandaw Nadi Hospital. The food, clothes and every utensil are well arranged for us. Now, our quarantine period is drawing near to end and we are expecting excitedly to the time returning back home. Official also give encouragements and take care of us in everything. We are receiving medical check-up day and night till now. We, all, are in good health and our mental processes are in progress. We are waiting for the day going back to our respective homes to meet with our families.”

59 out of 63 Myanmar students studying in Wuhan, the Chinese city at the epicenter of a new coronavirus outbreak arrived in Mandalay from Wuhan by air on 2nd February.
