Strengthening Cooperation : Meeting with the Indian Ambassador to Myanmar

Chairman of the Union Election Commission (UEC) U Than Soe met with Indian Ambassador to Myanmar Mr. Abhay Thakur at the UEC office in Nay Pyi Taw on Friday.

During the meeting, they discussed ongoing cooperation between Myanmar and India, the political situation in Myanmar, and preparations for the upcoming elections. The Ambassador also inquired about election observation plans and related arrangements.

The UEC Chairman explained updates on the electoral system, candidate registration, phased election implementation, voter list preparation, and plans to use electronic voting machines nationwide. He emphasized transparency, fairness, and voter education efforts. They also talked about potential Indian support in organizing post-election training programs, including technical and capacity-building courses.
