Strategic Seminar: Enhancing oil crop production in Magway Region

A technical seminar on boosting the production of oil crops in the Magway Region took place at Magway City Hall on Thursday.
Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, and Irrigation, U Min Naung, discussed that the ministry is drafting zone-wise cultivation plans for oil crops starting from the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
He urged all stakeholders to strive for the success of the works for the interest of the farmers, the region, and the state as well. Researchers and experts from the Agricultural Research Department and Agriculture Department lectured on techniques for boosting the production of peanuts, sesame, and sunflower.
Plans are underway to achieve 56 baskets per acre of peanuts, 12 baskets per acre of sesame, and 25 baskets per acre of sunflower in the 2024-2025 period. Twelve special cultivation zones are set to be designated in seven regions and states, with two special zones in the Magway Region.
