Strategic Cooperation: Media Roundtable On Belt And Road Initiative

China-Myanmar Media Roundtable on Belt and Road Initiative took place in Yangon on Wednesday.

China Media Group organized the event in conjunction with the publishing of the Myanmar version book on "Xi Jinping and One Belt One Road".

The event aims to promote public awareness on Belt and Road Initiative, and it benefits for country's development.

Economist, Professor Dr. Aung Tun Thet said “Belt and Road Initiative could bring many job opportunities apart from infrastructure development such as roads, bridges and railroads. Moreover, we can have mutual connectivity for both sides. Apart from Government to Government contact, we can have Business to Business contact and People to People contact.”

The Speaker includes Author Hane Latt, Chief Editor of D-Wave Journal MonYwa Aung Shin, member of National League for Democracy Central Economic Committee U Aye Lwin and Chairman of Yangon Media Group U Ko Ko (SetHmu Takkatho).

General Manager, Shwe Than Lwin Media, Author Hane Latt said “Governments of Myanmar and China have already signed for implementation of Belt and Road Initiative. Under this initiative, a road connecting China and Sittwe of Rakhine State via Muse, Bamo, Mandalay, Yangon and KyaukPhyu will be built with the assistance of China. This road also includes high speed railway. So, we can have better transportation access, along with the development of the areas where the road has passed. This will lead to many job opportunities for local people. Moreover, we can enjoy economic development with the swift flow of commodity. Also, peace will prevail in the region.”

Myanmar and China has established a diplomatic relations in 1950, and this year marked 70th anniversary. 2020 is also designated as China-Myanmar Culture Year and Tourism Year.
