



Locals in 28 townships of Yangon Region have been ordered to stay at home as a measure to control the spread of COVID-19 disease. Ministry of Health and Sports has issued the order in exercise of the rights contained in Section 21, sub-section (b) of the Prevention and Control of Communicable Diseases Law.
Due to the increasing numbers of confirmed cases, people residing in some townships are required to live under the “Stay-at-Home” programme in order to effectively control the spread of the disease.
Kamayut Township is one of the townships included in the “Stay-at-Home” programme. More than 50 COVID-19 confirmed cases have been found in Kamayut Township as of the 10th of September since the outbreak of COVID-19 in the country, and 27 of them have recovered.
Resident Kyaw Kyaw Thein said "I sell the fried potato at Hledan and it’s been about 5 years now. I wear masks and gloves and wash hands temporarily for the prevention of the disease."
Food Deliverer Bran Saing said "We delivered the food orders regularly and the condition was not bad before the disease outbreaks. During this period, the customers don’t order the foods and worry about the infection of the disease because we, food deliverers, are going around many places. I think, stay at the home programme will be a benefit for the prevention of the disease.
Restaurants are also ordered to give only take away service in the region.
Zayar from Shwe Café said "According to the announcement of the Ministry of Health and Sports, we only give take away service to the costumers. This street was really crowded with the students before. But there are few people on the street because of the stay at home programme. However, we all have to follow the rules to prevent the infection of the disease."
The Ministry first announced 7 townships in Yangon Region under the programme starting on the 2nd of September. 21 more townships have been added to the programme starting at 8 a.m. on the 10th of September.
