




Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing on Wednesday met with the Magway Region cabinet members, district and township-level departmental personnel, town elders and local farmers.
Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin reported on efforts for the development of respective sectors while local farmers and agriculturists discussed the needs of agricultural machinery, inputs and fertilizers, export of agricultural products and the plans to increase the per-acre yield of crops.
Union ministers and the Auditor-General of the Union responded to the discussions on environmental conservation, enhancement of health, agriculture and livestock sectors, academic and rural development measures, generating of electricity and running of fertilizer plants.
In his response, the Senior General stressed that efforts must be made for increasing the oil production rate. Generating electricity from solar energy can operate the river water pumping stations to be able to irrigate the cultivable lands. Low head dams should be built in the region to generate electricity. Animal dung must be effectively used in agricultural tasks.
Plans are underway to establish more institutes of agriculture. It is necessary to produce educated persons for the development of the nation. People need to change their mindsets for the improvement of health standards. He also highlighted the need to encourage the production of local products.
It is necessary to produce value-added onion products. Officials need to make efforts for narrowing the development gap and improvement of rural areas. Measures of peace and stability are being taken in the region for discarding the grudge, the Senior General added. Later the day, the Senior General and party paid homage to Myathalun Pagoda in Magway, donated cash to the fund of the pagoda and met with local people.
