Standards And Quality: 52nd Meeting Of ASEAN Consultative Committee Held In Yangon

The 52nd Meeting of ASEAN Consultative Committee For Standards And Quality (ACCSQ) and its related meetings, which will be held from 25th to 29th November, began on Monday in Yangon.

Organized by the Ministry of Education, Department of Research and Innovation, the meeting has been holding every alternate year with the aims to strengthen and promote the infrastructure which is the basic need for common standards among ASEAN member states.

The Chairman of National Education Policy Commission (NEPC), Dr. Myo Kywe attended the meeting on behalf of the Union Minister for Education and gave an opening remark.

A total of 100 participants including members from ASEAN countries including Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, Officials from ASEAN Secretariat, ASEAN and its related organizations from South Korea, Japan, Australia, representatives from EU ARISE Plus, PTB (Germany), ISO, IEC, and representatives from 3 enterprises and respective production industry from Myanmar attended the meeting.

Various Matters such as overseeing the strategic review of 2016-2025 of ASEAN Standards and Quality, reviewing the mutual recognition arrangements among the ASEAN countries, standards and quality on various products and sectors in ASEAN, establishing to extend the new areas, the improved condition of free trade area connecting with ASEAN countries and priority setting for standards, technical regulations and conformity assessment procedures are on discussions at the meeting.
