Sri Lanka procession pays homage to sacred Buddha tooth

Sri Lanka's Festival of the Tooth procession took place in the city of Kandy on Wednesday.

The procession features decorated elephants, traditional fire dances and performances in whip-dance garments.

The annual event pays homage to the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha, which is housed in the Sri Dalada Maligawa temple in Kandy.
