Sri Lanka had reintroduced the National Fuel Pass, making QR codes mandatory for all fuel purchases as the government moves to manage limited oil reserves. Sri Lankan Officials said the decision follows disruptions to global petroleum supply chains linked to the ongoing Mideast conflicts.

They added that It also prevents illegal bulk buying and black‑market rackets as aggravating factors. The government urged people to comply with the new requirements, stressing that the QR code is critical to shortening queues and ensuring uninterrupted fuel access for the general public.
