



Sri Lanka has launched emergency water measures, allocating 4.8 billion rupees to deliver drinking water via bowsers to nearly 72,000 people across seven drought-hit districts.
At a press conference in Colombo on Thursday, the Director General of Meteorology body explained that El Niño phenomena typically impact regional climate patterns over extended periods lasting 12 to 14 months. Triggered by severe dry conditions, reservoir levels have dropped to 10% capacity, prompting a fast-response defense circular and targeted wildlife relief.
