'Squid Game' writer criticises political crisis facing South Korea

The writer and director of the South Korean series “Squid Game”, Hwang Dong-hyuk, expressed deep concern over the ongoing political crisis in the country. This follows a brief declaration of martial law by President Yoon Suk Yeol.

Speaking at a press conference in Seoul ahead of the premiere of the second season of the popular Netflix show, Hwang said he felt "heavy-hearted" about the situation. He criticized the circumstances as "extremely unfortunate and infuriating." He added that it was troubling that the entire nation could not sleep due to the uncertainty and unrest.
