Spring Festival Travel Rush Picks Up as Large Passenger Flow

Shanghai Railway is now busying serving the large flow of passengers as the Spring Festival travel rush began to pick up.

On Sunday, Shanghai's two major railway stations saw about 350,000 passengers departing. The railway department has increased transportation capacity by speeding up the train services, re-organizing trains and adding carriages to ordinary trains.

Since the start of the Spring Festival travel rush this year, the passenger flow at Hongqiao Station has returned to about 80% of the same period in 2019. The railway department expects that the number of passengers departing the two major railway stations in Shanghai will continue to increase this week, and the peak is expected to come from Wednesday to Friday.
