Sports Facilities in Mandalay: Union Minister inspects post-earthquake repairs

Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and Hotels and Tourism Jeng Phang Naw Taung, in his capacity as Chairman of the Myanmar Olympic Committee, inspected post-earthquake repair and reconstruction works at damaged sports grounds and stadiums in Mandalay Region on Sunday.

At Mandalathiri Sports Ground in Chanmyathazi Township, the Union Minister reviewed ongoing repair works, and stressed the need to meet set standards, and timely completion. He also highlighted proper maintenance of football fields and called for continued coordination with relevant departments to raise the standard of sports in Mandalay Region.

He also instructed to support summer sports training programs, and nurture young and emerging athletes. The Union Minister later visited the Ba Htoo Indoor Stadium in Chanayethazan Township. He instructed to ensure the long-term durability of the facility, maintain cleanliness, and manage the stadium systematically for availability of public sports activities.

During the visit, he also met with staff from the Mandalay Region Sports and Physical Education Department, encouraging unity, teamwork, and cooperation to further develop the regional sports sector.
