Japan began releasing wastewater from the Fukushima nuclear reactor into the Pacific Ocean on Thursday. Hundreds of South Koreans gathered in Seoul to protest against the release of wastewater from the reactor.
Japan has repeatedly insisted the wastewater is treated and IAEA said that new on-site tests had confirmed the levels of radioactive tritium in the water being discharged were safe.
About 10 people held a protest near Fukushima and around 100 others gathered outside TEPCO headquarters in Tokyo. The Operator TEPCO said, seawater samples taken following the release water from the plant showed radioactivity levels well within safe limits.
