The 25th 12-day World Scout Jamboree was taking since the 1st of August in the Republic of Korea. This is the second time the Korea Scout Association will be the Host, as the 17th World Scout Jamboree was held in the country back in 1991.

Organizers of the World Scout Jamboree asked to "urgently" evacuate tens of thousands of children from their campsite ahead of a typhoon Khanun. The typhoon which killed at least two people in Japan is due to make landfall in South Korea on Thursday, near where some 43,000 scouts have been camping. The government will deploy some 1,000 buses to relocate the scouts, and the campsite will shut down once all the participants are evacuated.
