Solomon Islands opens embassy in China

The Solomon Islands opened its embassy in China on Tuesday, four years after the two countries established diplomatic relationship. Senior Chinese diplomat Wang Yi and Solomon Islands' Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare attended the ceremony in Beijing.

China and the Solomon Islands signed a joint communique on September 21, 2019 on the establishment of diplomatic relations. The Solomon Islands is located in the southwestern Pacific Ocean and has a population of approximately 720,000 with rich resources in tourism, fishery, and agriculture.
