SKorea sends 110 rescue workers to Turkey

Around 110 rescue workers from South Korea were sent to Turkey on Tuesday to help support search works following a devastating earthquake. The team of workers was comprised of more than 60 members of the Korea Disaster Relief Team and 50 military personnel, the South Korean Foreign Ministry said.

Medical supplies were also set to be delivered to Turkey by military transport aircraft, the ministry added.Monday's magnitude 7.8 quake and powerful aftershocks cut a swath of destruction that stretched hundreds of kilometers across southeastern Turkey and neighboring Syria.Rescuers raced against time early Wednesday to pull survivors from the rubble before they succumbed to cold weather.The death toll climbed above 7,700 and was expected to rise further.
