At a shrine in Wakayama Prefecture of western Japan, people are busy making good luck charms ahead of Setsubun, the last day of winter on the traditional Japanese calendar. The ornaments are said to bring family well-being and business prosperity when they are displayed at homes and shops to mark Setsubun.
The decorations are made by attaching colorful balls and auspicious symbols to willow branches. The shrine said it will produce a total of 1,200 of the good luck charms by Setsubun, which falls on February 3, this year.
