Serial Attacks: AA, TNLA, MNDAA Attacked Pyin Oo Lwin & Naung Cho

According to the statement of  the Office of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services and Myanmar Police Force, AA, TNLA, MNDAA armed groups conducted a series of attacks to the Defence Services Technological Academy (DSTA) in Pyin Oo Lwin of Mandalay Region, the toll gate of Pyin Oo Lwin at the entrance of Naung Cho, Gottwin Police post  in Naung Cho township of northern Shan State, the toll gate of Naung Cho at the entrance of Kyaukme' as well as the drug inspection gate and local battalion headquarters, at 5:30 am in the early morning of Thursday, 15th of August.

Those armed groups used both heavy and small arms during these attacks killing two innocent civilians and 3 police members while injuring 10 innocent civilians and two police members. During those attacks, the police lost 17 small arms, 6 cartridges, 1,312ammunitions, one drug detector device, one chemical tester, and 4 walkie talkies while 3 vehicles were destroyed. Because of the plant mines, the floor of Gottwin bridge was destroyed and it blocked the traffic flow.

The armed groups launched 107MM short type rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) to the DSTA campus from the east side of Pyin Oo Lwin-Lashio highway. Similarly, two members of armed groups, disguised as the civilians, opened fire with RPG to Asia World toll gate and drug inspection gate.

At the same time around 5:30 am, the AA, TNLA and MNDAA armed groups attacked Gottwin police post, Naung Cho toll gate and local battalion headquarters so that the Tatmadaw responded those attacks.

The Tatmadaw military columns immediately reinforced those Gottwin police post, Naung Cho toll gate and Asia World toll gate. During the land clearing operation, the Tatmadaw found Type-63 107-MM RPGs numbering six which were attached with the battery and wires, readiness to conduct short-type RPG attacks to the target sites with another battery on the hill of PyinOo Lwin-Lashio highway.

The Tatmadaw columns clashed with armed groups at Naung Cho drug inspection gate and Gottwin police post which injured innocent people. Among them, 5 innocent civilians and one police member were under medication at Pyin Oo Lwin People's hospital.

On 25th July this year, the narcotic-drugs worth more than 16 billion kyats as well as opium refineries and related materials were seized nearby Shauk Haw village in Kut Kai Township. Again on 8th August,the narcotic-drugs worth about 5 billion kyats, ammunitions and related materials were seized in Yat Khon Taing village, Rathae Taung Township, Rakhine State. It was assumed that AA,TNLA and MNDAA armed groups were discontent for their losses during the drug seizures and in return they committed those terrorist acts, hampering  the law and order.
