Seed Production by Farmers : MoALI DM attends the field demonstration

Deputy Minister for Argiculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Tin Htut attended the demonstration ceremony of upgraded seedbeds of Sin Shwe Kyar-2Sunflower in Kanbe village tract of Yamethin Township, Mandalay Region on 20th January.

During the occassion, the deputy minister stated that today’s demonsration was the example of the success of the cultivation system which is carried out by the farmers based on the size of the flower. Farmers can exchange pedigree seeds with each other and conduct seed production by forming organizations.

He also added that the technology of producing pedigree seeds is to be distributed among the farmers and stressed to cultivate subsidiary crops after the monsoon season. Then, the Deputy Minister viewed the demonstration cooperated by the farmers and made a field inspection to Farmer U Toe Toe Lwin’s seed production farm where the deputy minister clarified that the upgraded cultivation can be made based on the form of the plant, the size of the flower and the oil production rate.
