Security Operation: More drug production sites seized in Hsipaw and Mongyai

Security forces have uncovered and seized five additional illegal drug production sites in Hsipaw and Mongyai townships in northern Shan State.

Acting on local intelligence and ground reconnaissance, a combine team conducted clearance operations between January 18 and 22. During the operations, authorities discovered multiple drug laboratories, warehouses, makeshift camps, and large quantities of equipment and chemical materials used in drug manufacturing.

Several temporary shelters and storage facilities linked to drug production were also dismantled. In the same areas, security forces also found buildings suspected of being used for online fraud and illegal gambling activities. Additionally, a fortified camp believed to have been used by an armed group to provide security for drug production sites was seized without resistance.

From January 9 to January 22, a total of 13 drug production sites and two suspected online scam locations were uncovered in the region. It is learnt that the seized materials will be systematically examined, transferred to relevant departments, and destroyed according to procedures.

Authorities urged the public to continue providing information related to drugs and illegal activities, pledging firm action against all individuals and groups involved.
