On October 1, the Tatmadaw regained full control of Kyaukme town in northern Shan State, which had been temporarily held by armed insurgent groups.

Local ethnic residents welcomed and supported the return of Tatmadaw forces, expressing relief and hope for peace and stability. During the insurgents’ control, many locals had to flee their homes, facing loss of property, livelihood, and access to healthcare, education, and basic services.

Now, some have started returning to their hometowns. To help restore normalcy, Tatmadaw forces and relevant government departments are working to reopen administrative offices, schools, and hospitals, and are conducting mine clearance and rebuilding efforts for damaged public buildings, religious sites, and homes. Relief supplies, including food and other essentials, were delivered to the town on October 2.

The public expressed a desire for peace and a return to normal life for themselves and their children. Reconstruction and repair of schools, clinics, government offices, and houses destroyed by insurgents will be jointly carried out by the Tatmadaw and local communities. The Tatmadaw also pledged to continue providing necessary security operations to ensure people can live safely.
