School Health Week Campaign: Providing Iron Supplements & Other Health Care

During 2022-2023 Academic year, School Health Week Campaign was jointly organized by Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education and iron supplements and other health care services are being provided for over 6.6 million of students across the country from 7th to 13rd August.

Dr. Than Naing Soe, Director, Department of Public Health, Ministry of Health said "School Health Week Campaign is held every year and takes place mostly on second week of August. Over 6.6 million students from Private schools, monastic education schools, and basic education schools are being provided iron supplements for twice. "

Besides, implementations are underway in giving health care service to the students, painting, poems and essays competition, solving puzzle, group discussions and sharing knowledge activities for the students, demonstrating of step by step hand washing campaigns and brushing teeth systematically, checking oral health and implementing for having nutritious food to the schools across the country.

Dr. Than Naing Soe, Director, Department of Public Health, Ministry of Health said "Organizing School Health Week Campaign across the country, the students will gain knowledge on good healthcare habits and to step up implementation of school health activities. "

Enhancement of health care services in schools can support for prevention against infectious diseases as well as aim for the students through the healthy habits since they are young and to become the healthy and strong educated generations.
