Saudi Arabia’s Ambitious Climate Pledge at COP16

As Europe's climate monitor releases its 2024 warming assessment, Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Environment Minister, Osama Faqeeha, highlighted the country's “strong and ambitious programme to reduce all emissions.At COP16 in Riyadh, Faqeeha also spoke about the final pledges.

Osama Faqeeha, deputy Saudi environment minister said  "Already the financial pledges already made far exceed any financial pledges made in previous COPs. So already this is a successful COP by the pledges that are made. And any additional pledges will also add to that success. "

 The Copernicus Climate Change Service confirms 2024 is on track to be the hottest year on record, surpassing a critical threshold that scientists warn could lead to catastrophic global overheating. The report comes amid a year of climate-related disasters, tied to humanity’s impact on Earth’s warming.
