Samaññaphala Day: Pagodas in Nay Pyi Taw teemed with pilgrims, visitors

The month of Tazaungmon is the 8th month in Myanmar calendar. On the full moon day of Tazaungmon, the Lord Buddha preached SamaññaphalaSutta or the benefit from making monkhood to the congregation led by King Ajatasattu.

On the significant day, Myanmar Buddhists practice mediation, recite Pahtanasuttaand parittas, offer Kathina robes at the monasteries and perform meritorious deeds.

On the Full moon day of Tazaungmon, pagodas and stupas in Nay Pyi Taw Council Area are crowded with pilgrims, merit seekers and those who take Sabbath. In the morning, the 14thTazaungdaing golden lotus robe offering ceremony was held at the Uppasasanti Pagoda in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday.

Nay Pyi Taw Council Chairman U Tin Oo Lwin, the Deputy Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Aye Tun, Nay Pyi Taw Council members and officials offered Tazaungdaing golden lotus robes to the Buddha images in the pagoda cave and Maha Su TaungPyae Pagoda at the north-east corner of the pagoda and also offered alms food, fruits, flowers and water to the Buddha images.

It was followed by the successful ceremony of 141stnon-stop MahaPahtanasutta recitation was held at the community hall of the pagoda platform.

The Deputy Minister, the Deputy Commander of Nay Pyi Taw Command and congregation received the Nine Precepts from the OvadaSariyaSayadaw of Uppatasanti Pagoda Presiding Sayadaw of Intha East monastery in Nay Pyi Taw Lewei and listened to the parittas chanted by Sayadaw and monks. The Deputy Minister and party then donated offertories to Sayadaw and monks and shared the merits.

Likewise, people and visitors were crowded at Yadana White Elephant hall in the precinct of the pagoda and souvenir shops. In the evening, the lights offering ceremony was held dedicating to Lord Buddha on the pagoda platform and it was teemed with pilgrims.

The fireworks were also displayed at the Tabaung ground near the pagoda and there were crowded with people. Meanwhile, pagodas and stupas in Nay Pyi Taw council area were also thronged with pilgrims, Wut Associations, residents and visitors who practiced meditation, recited parittas, offered golden robes and rice as well as giving charity meal.

Moreover, the Nivana market festivals were held in townships and wards in Nay Pyi Taw. The Ocean Super Center,JunctionCenter,Naypyitaw Wholesale and remarkable places in Nay Pyi Taw were crowded with people and those who took relaxation.

At night, people offered lights at the pagodas and stupas and their homes dedicating to the Lord Buddha and there were teemed with those who donated mazeli salad and made donation.

On the full moon day, the health staffs and members of Red Cross Society also distributed masks free of charge to pilgrims for COVID-19 prevention and the traffic safety and security measures were conducted at the pagodas and stupas for the people to be able to pay homage with peace of mind.
