The 26th Shan State Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition opened on Sunday at Taunggyi University, attended by Chief Minister U Aung Aung and officials.

The event will be held over two days from September 7 to 8, with the participation of 168 contestants from southern, eastern, and northern Shan State competing in singing, dancing, song composing, and playing musical instruments. The Chief Minister encouraged participants to strive for excellence and represent the state at the central level. He also praised teachers, mentors, and judges for supporting the event.

The first day competitions saw the basic education level of aged 10–15 in singing and dancing categories. Last year, Shan State won 11 awards at the central level, and this year’s event aims to select the best talents to compete again.
