SAC Government meeting: Day 2of SAC Government meeting held

The second day of the State Administration Council Government Coordination Meeting was held in the meeting hall of the SAC Chairman’s Office in Nay Pyi Taw in the morning on May 20.

The meeting was attended by Chairman of State Administration Council and Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, SAC Vice Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win, Secretary General Aung Lin Dwe, Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo, Council members, Union-level officials, Union Ministers, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, Chief Ministers from Regions and States, and Deputy Ministers.

As in agenda, the Union Ministers presented updates on the implementation status of the respective ministries’ projects, the progress made toward the objectives and responsibilities, operational status, and related general matters. Each presented the respective ministry’s progress and challenges. In response to the presentations, the SAC Chairman and Prime Minister provided guidance, highlighting the need to develop the electricity sector by utilizing available power sources and implementing ongoing and renewable energy projects as a national priority, conditions necessary to facilitate greater importation of electric vehicles (EVs), the importance of enhancing the capacity of the Myanmar Police Force, continued efforts in combating narcotics and addressing the issue of unlicensed vehicles, development of border areas and ethnic regions, promotion of sports and youth development sectors, lessons to be learned from the destruction caused by recent earthquake and the need for preparedness and other essential matters.

A model video clip demonstrating standard procedures for constructing highways in line with official standards and calculating proper planting of shady trees was shown during the meeting. Subsequently, attendees engaged in general discussions. SAC Joint Secretary General Ye Win Oo and SAC Vice Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win also gave remarks and engaged in the discussions.

In the concluding remarks, the SAC Chairman and Prime Minister stated that after the election, power would be transferred to the winning party. He emphasized that this coordination meeting was held to allow leaders to express their implementation needs and priorities moving forward. He reminded Region and State Chief Ministers and Union Ministers that their presentations must be factually accurate and aligned with on-the-ground realities.

Only with accurate information can correct decisions be made for future tasks. He also urged officials to strive toward making major cities, including Nay Pyi Taw, into Green Cities, Clean Cities, and Smart Cities.
