Russian Railways resumed the passenger rail service connecting Khasan, a border town in Russia's Far East, and North Korea's Tumangang station on Monday. The service was suspended in 2020 because of the coronavirus outbreak. The train will operate three round trips a week.

The railway operator has expressed hopes that the resumption of the service will boost the number of tourists to North Korea. The move comes as Moscow and Pyongyang are strengthening ties. Russia has also resumed sightseeing tours to North Korea.
