Rural Development: Meeting with farmers and road construction

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Myo Zaw Thein on Saturday met with local farmers and members of agricultural cooperatives in Danubyu and Nyaungdon Townships of Ayeyawady Region, to discuss systematic farming based on the cooperative system.

During the meetings, the Union Minister urged farmers to work collectively through cooperatives, adopt mechanized and systematic farming methods, and achieve targeted crop yields. He also pledged to coordinate with relevant departments to ensure the timely supply of quality seeds, fertilizers and fuel.

He highlighted that collective farming, including shared ploughing, planting, harvesting and bulk purchasing of agricultural inputs, could reduce production costs and improve crop quality and yields. He also urged farmers to prepare for possible weather changes associated with a Super El Niño in the coming growing season.

The Union Minister also inspected the completion of a concrete village road in Mayan Chaung Village of Danubyu Township, built with support from the Village Development Project fund and public contributions.
