




Two villages in Myanmar have been implemented as the model villages under the China-aided Pilot Project of Poverty Reduction Cooperation in Myanmar.
The project is jointly implemented by the Department of Rural Development under the Ministry of Cooperatives and Rural Development and the International Poverty Reduction Centre under the National Rural Revitalization Administration of China.
The handing over ceremony of the project took place in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. Chinese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Chen Hai stressed to share the experiences for poverty reduction and development of rural villages, and to provide technology for improvement of agriculture produces and export process.
Union Minister U Hla Moe said the project reflects the friendly relations between China and Myanmar, and stressed that it brings many benefits for poverty reduction efforts and rural development tasks. With the assistance of China, the project has been implemented at MinPyin Village in Nay Pyi Taw Lewe Township and Aye Chan Tha Village in Tatkone Township for three years from February 2018 to March 2021.
The project benefited to about 1,500 residents from the two villages as they achieved improvement in social status, family incomes and environment management awareness along with the development of infrastructures.
