Road Constructing And Upgrading: Tasks To Be Undertaken In Taninthayi Region

The new construction of roads, upgrading and renovation tasks are being undertaken throughout the country by the Department of Highways under the Ministry of Construction depending on the budget in the fiscal year.

In 2022-2023 fiscal year, the road construction and upgrading are underway in Taninthayi Region, according to the official of Department of Highways in the region.

Responsible Official, Department of Highways (Taninthayi) said “With the supervision of the Department, we are undertaking these processes with the union and regional budget fund. The 4 main tasks are underway with the union fund. We will operate 2.63-km long AC road construction works, concrete paving works with over 2.92-km long and another task is asphalt paving on Dawei-Myeik-Kawthoung highway and construction of new box culverts.”

According to the Department, the 24 tasks such as road construction and upgrading will be implemented with 29.33 billion kyats budget funded by the regional government.

Responsible Official, Department of Highways (Taninthayi) said “We will construct about 21-km wide asphalt paving roads, expand the roads,pave concrete and construct new roads and bridges in the region. We will also operate the construction projects in Kadan Island of Myeik in 2022.”

In 2022-2023 fiscal year, under the supervision of the Department, plans are underway to operate 4 main tasks with the union fund and 24-tasks with the regional fund. The arrangements are being made to conduct renovating and repairing process due to the damages affected by heavy rains during the rainy season.
