






A ceremony was held in Nay Pyi Taw to hand over donations for the renovation of Dhammarazika Pagoda, which was damaged by the Mandalay earthquake on March 28, 2025.
50 million kyats cash donations each were made by former Union Minister for Religious Affairs Thura U Myint Maung and wife, and the Nay Pyi Taw Development Committee. The donations were accepted by Union Minister U Tin Oo Lwin on behalf of the pagoda trustees. The Union Minister said the Ministry had assessed damage to 6,503 pagodas and religious sites caused by the earthquake.
Efforts are underway to restore damaged pagodas in accordance with traditional Buddhist architectural standards and earthquake-resistant construction guidelines. He also said more than 200 Buddha images were damaged across the country, and about 160 have already been repaired. After the ceremony, the Union Minister inspected earthquake damage at Maya Brick Monastery, Maha Bodhi Pagoda, Dhammarazika Pagoda, Nandhiya Monastery and Dhammekha Pagoda, and gave necessary instructions for restoration works.
