Religious Occasion: Diamond Bud hoisted atop the historic pagoda in Bago

A ceremony of hoisting diamond bud, pennant shaped vane atop the KyaikPyinnyarya Pagoda was held on 17th of March, in conjunction with the consecration ceremony. Situated near Bago University in OtthaMyothit, the pagoda was built by ancient monarchs over 1,000 year ago.
Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and wife attended the ceremony, and paid homage to thehistoric pagoda, offering Emerald alms-bowl, flower, water and oil-lights.
Then the Prime Minister and wife, and congregation took the nine precepts by Patron Sayadaw of Kyakhat Wine Sarthintaik in Bago, and offered holy flower,water, thread and sand to the Sayadaws.
After listening to the Parittasutta recited by the Sayadaws, the holy flowers, water, thread and sand were scattered in the precinct of the pagoda.
Later, the Prime Minister and wife, and family members offered a diamond orb and religious objects to Thanlyin Min KyaungSayadaw, and a pennant-shaped vane and offertories to the MyoMaSayadaw.
This was followed by offering of donated offertories to the Sayadaws by the Joint Secretary of SAC, SAC members, Union Ministers and congregation. They then took a sermon delivered by the Thanlyin Min KyaungSayadaw and shared merits gained.
After that, the Prime Minister and wife, and family members conveyed the jewel diamond orb and the pennant-shaped vane in the golden casket round the pagoda clockwise to the temporary place in front of MahaMingalarPandal.
At the auspicious time, the Prime Minister and party conveyed the jewel diamond orb and the pennant-shaped vane by the decorated float atop the pagoda, and sprinkled scented water on them. At the same time, officials conveyed the jewel diamond orbs atop the encircled stupas.
Then the Pirme Minister offered Golden lotus robe to the Buddha image and the members of Sangha performed the consecration ceremony of Ancient Historic KyaikPyinnyarya pagoda.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister and wife unveiled the stone inscription by sprinkling scented water and struck the bell 9 times. Next, the Prime Minister and wife opened flagstaff with sprinkled scented water.
After the ceremony, the Prime Minister and entourage offered day meal to the Sangha and served the guests with lunch.
Next, the Prime Minister and wife presented cash to supporting teams and welfare associations providing for the ceremonies. The ancient historic Pagoda , KyaikPyinnyarya, is the tallest pagoda among three pagodas build in Bago-Hantharwaddyera.Buddha’srelics, revered by successive kings, and jewelry, donated by people, were enshrined at the reliquary of the pagodas.
The government, Tatmadw, locals and donors renovated the pagodas since the damages occurred due to the various reasons.The renovation works were initiated on 21st March 2012 and the process was postponed on July 2019.
In line with the guidance of Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, the renovation works were resumed on 19th February 2023 and completed the ceremonies successfully with the collective donation of the people.
